    Willis L. (Bill) Tyler passed away Sunday, October 12. Bill was born April 22, 1921 in Alta Vista, Iowa. He attended school there and then went on to barber college in Cedar Rapids. He barbered with his father in Alta Vista for a short time before entering the war effort. He fought in the Philippines including the battle of Okinawa. After the war was over in the Pacific he was sent to Korea for a short time. When he returned to Iowa, he married Wilma Bergmann on May 26, 1946. They had celebrated their 68th anniversary this year. In 1981, after barbering in Cedar Falls where he owned and operated Bill’s and then the Parkade barbershop, he and Wilma retired to Hot Springs Village, Arkansas. Bill continued to cut hair part time in his home shop.

    Bill was preceded in death by parents William and Bertha (Lukritz) Tyler, sister Lyla
    Mae Smith and brothers Harry and Miles Tyler.

    He is survived by his wife, Wilma (Bergmann) Tyler, sons Steve (Cynthia) of Waverly, and Tom (Joan) of Holly Springs, Mississippi, two grandchildren, Lori Lund of Phoenix and Ryan Tyler (Crystal) of Boise, Idaho, six great-grandchildren one great- great grandchild, one brother, James (Carol) of Charles City, IA and a sister-in-law, Rosalie Thompson of Hot Springs Village, AR.

    Bill enjoyed playing golf and was an avid fisherman. If he wasn’t fishing on Lake Cortez, he was out there improving the fishery by adding many nesting areas for bass and other game fish. He is in the Village record books having caught many record large-mouth bass. If there were fish to catch, Bill would find them.

    A memorial service will be held at Christ Lutheran Church, Hot Springs Village on
    November 1 at 1;00 PM.

    Memorials may be made to the Hospice of Central Arkansas or Christ Lutheran Church.

    Arrangements have been entrusted to CedarVale Funeral Home.
